Ursuline Athletics – To State or Bust!

By Leah Folk

October 21, 2020

Celebrating our Tennis and Golf Teams!

These last few weeks have been filled with spirit and support, as our Ursuline community celebrated a number of our student athletic teams!  Within a week of each other, we were cheering on our Tennis team as they qualified for State and four members of our Golf team as they prepared to compete in the state tournament.  Last Thursday, the school held a car parade through the front circle drive as a spirited send-off for those heading into the state competitions.

Over the weekend, the individual piece of the tennis state tournament took place, and two of our seniors made Ursuline history!  Anna Lamartina ’21 and Courtney Leigh ’21 took 4th in that individual portion of the state tennis tournament.  This Fourth-place finish as a double team is the highest finish in Ursuline tennis history!  The team as a whole also qualified for the state tournament and will compete over the weekend of Oct. 24, and we are cheering them on for their continued success!

On Tuesday, our golf team competed in the Class 2 state tournament, at Meadow Lake Acres, and placed 5th overall.  Olivia Clough ’21, Erin Fagan ’21, Molly Fagan ’22, and Grace Theiss ’23 all participated.

We are so proud to honor and celebrate these Ursuline Bears on their accomplishments.  Many hours of practice, drills, hard work and grit go into a season, and these teams are a testament to the payoff. Congratulations once again!
