Earlier this month we were excited to have students return to competing in the 2023 MSHSAA District Music competition. Both Kate Weatherby ’25 and Natalie Briggs ’25 competed at the District 11 Solo and Ensemble Competition at Parkway Central High School on March 11.

Natalie and Kate, who are both enrolled in Ms. Feder’s Independant Study for Music, are the first two girls from Ursuline Academy to take a solo to this festival in a number of years. This event draws high school musicians from around the region together to perform solos and small ensembles in front of professionals in their specialty area (brass, woodwind, string, vocal, or percussion groups) and then they then receive a rating and feedback based on these performances. Kate performed a vocal solo and Natalie performed a trombone solo. For her trombone solo, Natalie received a rating of 4; Developing. For her vocal solo, Kate received a rating of 2; Outstanding.

We are so incredibly proud of these ladies for representing Ursuline Academy so well and for such beautiful performances! Way to go, Bears!
