Mathematics Department

Statement of Purpose

The mathematics department develops academic courses with a focus on the needs of the individual students. Through challenges of critical thinking, applied mathematics, use of the graphing calculator, and other techniques, Ursuline students hone mathematics concepts and processes. Technology is emphasized to help students connect the concepts to the “visual” which aids in understanding mathematics, expressions, operations and solutions. Most importantly, we hope that each student achieves her personal best. Incorporating National Mathematics standards, all courses are designed to challenge students in all aspects of mathematics and ultimately develop within each student a desire for lifelong learning.
