Patti: A Beloved Part of the Bear Family

At Ursuline Academy, sisterhood comes in many forms—and sometimes, it has four paws! This National Dog Day, we’re celebrating Patti, Ursuline’s official support dog and one of the friendliest faces on campus.

Patti is more than just a beloved school dog. She is part of a certified Touch Therapy Team through DUO DOGS, recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC). To earn her certification, Patti completed a six-week obedience class, passed a temperament test and took part in a 12-week Touch Therapy training program focused on obedience, safety, situational awareness and appropriate behavior in a variety of settings.

Today, Patti puts that training to work by helping make school days a little brighter. Whether students need a calming presence before a big test, a friendly face after a long day or some extra encouragement at a sports event, Patti is always ready to provide a little comfort and joy.

From welcoming students back to campus to offering a paws-itive distraction during stressful moments, Patti is an important part of the Ursuline community—and one more reason there’s always a friendly face waiting to greet you at UA.
